What the day is all about?
Since 1988 the world united around the creation of a global HIV/AIDS awareness and on the 1 December of each year, the world observes World AIDS Day. This is an initiative launched by the World Health Organization to provide leaders, governments, HIV/AIDS programs, religious and community organisations, employers and individuals with an opportunity to focus on the epidemic and unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
What employers can do?
The primary aim of this day is to create and raise awareness by encouraging employees:
- To get tested for HIV
- practice safer methods to prevent HIV
- decide not to engage in high risk behaviors
- talk about HIV prevention with family, friends, and colleagues
- provide support to people living with HIV/AIDS
- get involved with or host an event for World AIDS Day in your community

Basic Hand-out (Gift Bag)
The basic hand-out consists: T-shirt, Condoms, Full color pamphlets on “I know about HIV/AIDS/STD’s” and “Living with the disease – A guide to living a full life.” The basic handout is packaged in a transparent plastic bag.
